‘Velocity Racing Glendyne’ has been working hard

The Glendyne Human Powered Vehicle [HPV] team, ‘Velocity Racing Glendyne’ has been working hard. This program was introduced at the beginning of the year to engage our students in a valuable community experience, build team work skills, strengthen individual wellbeing, increase motivation and overall resilience. The team has two 8 hour challenges in Yeppoon and also Benaraby, however they are still training harder than ever for the up coming Maryborough Technology Challenge. This event will be held over the weekend of  September 14th-16th, and students will be required to work as a team to keep their bike on the track for 24 hours.

Due to the students positive response, the school has been raising funds and seeking sponsorships , to provide adequate resources so this program can continue.  We have run a successful BBQ fundraiser, raising $350. This money will help supply helmets, gloves, safety glasses and specialized racing shoes. Thank you to those businesses and staff who donated and also a big thank you to those parents and staff members who donated their time to run the BBQ.  Our future plans to raise more funds for vehicle equipment and fuel for the students participating in the long 24 hour race, includes an upcoming auction.
